The West Boca Snappers have won their second consecutive SFCBL Championship after defeating the Ft. Lauderdale Knights twice on Sunday at Little Fenway in Delray Beach.  

Ross Maertz (Adelphi University) had the game winning 3 run home run in the ninth inning of Game 1, which was a no doubter over the Green Monster in left-field.  This winning home run would earn him the Championship Series MVP Award.  Gus Carter (Florida Gulf Coast University) was the winning pitcher going 6 innings with 6 strikeouts and giving up 3 runs.  Francisco Urbaez (Florida Atlantic University) also added a hit and RBI. 

In Game 2, Luis Aviles (Tulane University) led the offense going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and Luis Chavez (Florida International University) added a double and RBI.  On the mound Gavin Gillespie (Palm Beach State) picked up the win throwing 4 innings with 2 strikeouts and 1 earned run.  Nelson Smith (Palm Beach State) threw excellent in relief striking out 4 batter in 3 innings.  Emanuel Fernandez (Santa Fe) picked up the save throwing 1 inning and striking out 2 batters.

Corey Martinez (William Patterson) picked up the W in the semi final completing his perfect 6-0 season.  Corey went 7 innings and only gave up 1 run.  After the game he would be named the SFCBL Pitcher of the Year.


Derek Cartaya (Florida International University) was a major factor throughout the play offs with key hits and defensive plays.  Derek was later named the 2019 SFCBL MVP.
