Ryan Johnson from Palm Beach Atlantic
The West Boca Snappers are excited to announce their final roster for the 2017 summer season. After finishing just under .500 in the inaugural season last year the front office has looked to improve on that going into year two. “We were competitive in our first season but we are looking to make a postseason run in season two” said GM Ryan Lamb. This has led to a more thorough recruiting effort this offseason and final few weeks leading up to our June 2 opening night.
Snappers GM went on to say, “That’s why we are working harder on recruiting good players from good programs like catcher Ryan Johnson and third baseman CJ Farias from Palm Beach Atlantic University.” The Snappers also boast a strong infield that includes Ramon Machado from Palm Beach State and Harold Marte from Prince George’s C.C. in Maryland. Machado has appeared in 29 games and batted .291 as a freshman while Marte also a freshman hit .390 with 8 bombs and 30 RBI’s in 39 games.
“Going into our second season we are looking for guys who want to come down and compete for a championship,” says head coach Ross Smith, “and we believe we have a roster full of those type guys.” The Snappers bring back their number one arm from a year ago LHP Tyler Bauman and his teammate RHP Ryan Nolan both at Saint Leo University. The West Boca team is also looking forward to having two young guns in the rotation with LHP Sawyer Losey and RHP Zane Stephens. Both are incoming freshman at their respective schools Florida State and Mississippi State.
It seems as though the Snappers have a solid mix of some veteran upper class man with a few young guns sprinkled in.
